Pigment Red 4 (CAS: 2814-77-9), molecular formula: C_{16} H_{10} ClN_{3} O_{3}，Molecular weight: 327.73, its physical and chemical properties are orange-red powder, density 1.45~1.65g/cm³, bright color, insoluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, acetone and benzene. It is blue-light magenta when dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid, yellow-light red precipitate after dilution, bright vermilion when dissolved in concentrated nitric acid, and does not change color in dilute sodium hydroxide. It has good fluidity and hiding power, but poor heat resistance, and the heat resistance temperature is 120℃.
Pigment Red 4 has the characteristics of strong tinting power, good hiding power, easy dispersion, excellent acid and alkali resistance. Its light fastness is level 6-7, but the color will darken after exposure.
