1. Weathering in dry air, surface oxidation into brown basic iron sulfate in humid air. It becomes tetrahydrate at 56.6℃ and monohydrate at 65℃. Soluble in water, almost insoluble in ethanol. It has a certain stability, but is easily oxidized in air.
2. Uses
It is used to make iron salts, inks, iron oxide red and indigo, used as mordant, tanning agent, water purifier, wood preservative and disinfectant, etc.
In sewage treatment, ferrous sulfate can be used to remove pollutants such as phosphates and sulfides, and can also adjust the pH value of sewage.
It can be used as a fertilizer to adjust the pH of the soil, promote the formation of chlorophyll (also known as iron fertilizer), and prevent and treat chlorosis caused by iron deficiency in flowers and trees. It is an indispensable element for acid-loving flowers and trees, especially cycads.
As a blood tonic, it is used to treat iron deficiency anemia.
