1. Properties
Appearance: Brown-black powder.
Solubility: Soluble in water, it is reddish brown; slightly soluble in ethanol, it is light brown-red; it is blue in concentrated sulfuric acid, and forms a brown precipitate after dilution; it is crimson in concentrated nitric acid, and orange-red in dilute nitric acid.
Stability: It is blue at a pH value of 8-11, and the complex formed with metal ions is red. It can form red complexes with many metal ions.
2. Uses
Analytical chemistry: It is often used as a metal indicator in analytical chemistry, and is used for complexometric titration to determine metal ions such as calcium, magnesium, barium, indium, manganese, lead, scandium, strontium, zinc and zirconium. It works best when the pH value is 8-11.
Other fields: In the printing and dyeing industry, Chrome Black T can be used for dyeing and printing of fibers such as wool, silk, and nylon, and can also be used for dyeing leather, paper, etc.
