Acid Blue 80, CAS No. 4474-24-2, its chemical name is Acid Blue 80, C.I. Acid Blue 80, Acid Brilliant Blue P-3R, etc.
It is a dark blue crystalline powder, easily soluble in water, the aqueous solution is dark blue, and it is magenta when hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide is added. Its molecular formula is C_{32} H_{28} N_{2} Na_{2} O_{8} S_{2}, the molecular weight is 678.683, the melting point is about 300 ºC, the flash point is greater than 300 ºC, and the refractive index is 1.679.
Acid Blue 80 is mainly used for dyeing wool, silk, nylon and their blended fabrics, and can also be directly printed on wool and silk fabrics.
In terms of production, it is usually prepared by condensing 1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone with mesitylidine (2,4,6-trimethylaniline), then sulfonating with oleum, and salting out. Specifically, a certain amount of mesitylidine, hydrochloric acid, 1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone, boric acid, and glacial acetic acid are added to a reactor, carbon dioxide is introduced, heated, and zinc powder is added for reaction, and then the reaction liquid is poured into preheated sulfuric acid, refluxed, filtered, and washed with water until neutral, and then refined with sodium carbonate solution to obtain a filter cake, and finally the filter cake is reacted with oleum, and the finished dye is obtained after treatment.
