ACID RED 97 (C.I. 22890) Usage And Synthesis |
Uses |
Acid Red 97 is an organic azo dye used as a leather dye, and in the preparation of fluorescent inorganic-organic hybrid nanoparticles for staining and imaging. |
General Description |
Red to dark red powder. Copper and iron dull color; iron to a greater extent. |
Air & Water Reactions |
Azo dyes in powder form can be explosive when suspended in air at specific concentrations. Moderately soluble in water to give acidic solution. |
Reactivity Profile |
Aqueous solutions react as acids to neutralize bases in weakly exothermic reactions. Toxic gases are formed by mixing with acids, aldehydes, amides, carbamates, cyanides, inorganic fluorides, halogenated organics, isocyanates, ketones, metals, nitrides, peroxides, phenols, epoxides, acyl halides, and strong oxidizing or reducing agents. Flammable gases are formed by mixing materials in this group with alkali metals. Explosive combination can occur with strong oxidizing agents, metal salts, peroxides, and sulfides. |
Health Hazard |
ACUTE/CHRONIC HAZARDS: When heated to decomposition ACID RED 97 (C.I. 22890) emits toxic fumes of nitrogen oxides. |
Fire Hazard |
Flash point data for ACID RED 97 (C.I. 22890) are not available; however, ACID RED 97 (C.I. 22890) is probably combustible. |
