Tetramethyl-2,2′-[1,4-phenylbis[imino(1-acetyl-2-oxoethane-1,2-diyl)azo]] bis-terephthalate (CAS: 68516-73-4) is a pigment.
This pigment is available in 11 commercial formulations. It is a greenish yellow variety of diacetyl acetyl aromatic amide with high tinting strength and good solvent and acid/alkali resistance. Its specific surface area is 50m²/g (sandorin yellow 4g). It has excellent varnish resistance in baking paints and can replace chrome yellow. Its light and weather fastness are better than C.I. Pigment Yellow 16. It is suitable for plastic coloring (soft PVC, 180℃; it can withstand 260℃/5min in HDPE at 1/3 standard depth without color change). It can also be used for polypropylene and polystyrene coloring and printing ink coloring (excellent soap and cream resistance).
