Appearance: Usually black granular powder with glitter.
Solubility: Easily soluble in water to blue-purple, soluble in ethanol to blue.
Stability: Relatively stable under certain conditions, but may change properties under extreme conditions such as strong acid and strong alkali. The dye is blue in concentrated sulfuric acid, purple after dilution and forms a precipitate; the aqueous solution is blue-purple, and the sodium hydroxide solution is a dark purple precipitate.
It is mainly used for dyeing fabrics such as wool, silk, cotton, and viscose, especially for leather dyeing. It can also be used for coloring paper, wood, soap and electroplated aluminum, and can also be used to make ink.
